I am kicking myself like crazy, I lost over 100 GB worth of music, files and documents and other stuff, because like an absolute idiot I didn't back up, I just forgot about it, last week my PC became very ill and basically died, in all honesty it has been hard to lose so much data that was close and personal to me, but on the bigger scale of things, it really is just small.
People have sadly lost their homes and everything due to devastation caused by fires, tsunamis, typhoons and of course the recession, I can only give them my utmost sympathy and know that what I have gone through is very small compared to what they have had to deal with.
Cold Rock Da Spot is going to be on hiatus for a bit, because I am going to rebuild my online collection from scratch and rip a lot of CD's and vinyl (when I get it back) and this will take some time, I really want to keep this blog going and I really appreciate your comments, you make it all worth it.
Thank you and remember kids

sad...are you shure that the hard drive is truly screwed? or was it a short and only your power pack burned?if so, there's always a good chance that the hard drive survived the crash and you can just implement it into a new pc. (i experienced the same matter once).
greetings
That sucks! I've been there, and hope it doesn't happen again. I've had not only a hard drive crash before, but the damn backup drive as well. Oh well, I see your dedication, and you'll be back in no time. I'll keep it one hundred with you until you return...
Damn Jaz, I hate to hear about you hard drive issues. I do feel your pain having recently lost a 500GB myself. Take your time and rebuild my man, we will all be here for you!
GoMack
Try recovering data with this program: GetDataBack for NTFS. It's very good.
Wow, thanks so much for the supportive comments, we tried putting the drive in another PC but it can only read some of what I had and there was a folder that we couldn't access, that's where all my music and files were.
Also, LMAO at the anonymous little kids here that called me a c--t and an MP3 leecher, FYI loser, most of my files were from my own CD's and I have a stack of vinyl that I will be ripping once I get it back from storage.
This idea may have already been thought of, but can't we help you get some of your music back by sending you files of MP3s? We would just be returning the favor of what you did for us. Let me know and I hope everything works out for you. Peace....CHris
Very sorry to hear about this Jaz. I've benefited a lot from that incredible collection of yours.
I actually found myself having lost 200GB of music recently as well with a hard drive crash. It was totally agonizing. So much work down the drain.
Sometimes these things are powerful, poetic lessons for us. In my case, it was a reality check that I sorely needed.
I hope you get your data back or regardless find some useful benefit in this whole affair.
With deep respect....

I hope you get everything straightened out, Jaz. If you need anything, let me know. I'd imagine that you probably need a lot of the things that Kevin Beacham uploaded, so hit me up with a list.
Sorry to hear Jaz. I'll help in any way I can.
sounds like a nightmare man!
drop me an email if theres any tracks you need helping out with.
Had the same problem myself a year back or so. Though I didn't learn from the mistake but I will defenetly back up my files now when I heard about this.
Good luck Jaz on getting the material back.
You guys are just awesome, thanks so much for the supportive comments, I really appreciate it.
Sweet Tooth, I e-mailed Jared, thanks so much form that b.
Tough loss for you and your readers alike. There are definitely people/companies that can recover your data (in most instances) but it's not all that inexpensive if you are talking about needing a clean room and such. Had a good experience with gillware.
Best of luck.
yo jaz. sorry to hear bout that man. I'd definitely smash my head against a wall if same happened to me! dude if u want I can try to zip ALL the rips u could get on my blog and up them in sendspace or possible an ftp-server so u can grab all again. hit me up if I should do that...
cheers man!
Thanks again for the supportive comments and ral, I really appreciate that but you don't have to do that.
I am getting in a professional "geek" next week to see if he can recover my data.
Peace all
Hope it works!
Bummer dude. Happens to the best of us. You running Windows or a Mac? Let me know I can recommend a Windows product that recovered tons of music and stuff I thought I'd lost. Failing that, if you've got the coin try Computer Forensics in Auckland.
I'm running on windows codinginferno, I am thinking about getting a Geeks On Wheels visit but computer forensics sounds interesting.
Again, thank you so much for your kind comments and support, I have dealt with this loss and am moving on, there really are a lot of dope blogs out there and they are appreciated.
Also peace to Matt Nyce
:D
Hey Jaz
I used this tool called R-Studio on Windows about a year ago and I've recovered files successfully (and still continue to).
http://www.r-studio.com/
It does a scan of your busted drive, then tells you whats on it, allowing you to selectively recover the files you want.
It might be worth a shot and its probably a cheaper option for you than calling in the geeks.
Good luck dude
Here's that JVC Force man
