ready? come on down
It's not really it's a remix, it's just that I wanted to make these posts better...and do more thorough research...I am also going to change up the past Back To....posts as well...and now...

I am really pleased that a lot of you gave awesome comments and feedback and clearly enjoyed the Back To 1992 write up and comp and as I was doing that I was trying to convince myself that 1991 wasn't as good as year as 1992...but after going through a ton of music, magazine, website and memory banks it clicked... I was w.r.o.n.g.
I worked in a record store in 1991 and proudly got that shop it's first ever Rap and Hip Hop tape and CD section and sold a lot that year, saw DJ Mase-O (What goes on?) kill it on the two turntables with a 3 1/2 hour set when De la Soul came to town, the Weds Nite Jam was moved to a Friday and he was our very special guest DJ Mikey and Vicious of the MVC Posse, and yours truly were rocking out the airwaves with a studio and lounge area filled to the brim with Radio Active staff, DJ's and crew along with Mase's mad hilarious entourage..., we got Mase tearing shit up with Old School classics and a highly memorable Native Tongues set, he also had us beaming when he needed to do double ups on his turntables and would ask us if we had the record and we did :D...I got owned through an embarrassing phone call and had Mase and his crew asking me what colour a beetroot was, they drank maaaadddd coronas and said they had hi jacked the station and taken the radio station over...ha ha...
I got really nervous during some voice breaks (it was mainly V and Mikey) but was relaxed to rock a freestyle off the top and got applause and Mase asking me if it was off the top...that was a dope night...
Peace to LL Short V,DJ Red Kora, The GBm's, Pete, Jordy, Ebony Beats crew and Te Raina and all of the old school
1991 was full of dope records and albums from all around the World so let's cover a little of that and then go into the dopest releases from the U.S.

As for albums of the year
This was the MVC Posse and Jaz's Top 10 for 1991, we had a list (ha ha I found an old list the other day so I am not sure if it the exact one...it doesn't matter) and a photo of us in the studio the night of the De La Soul radio show take over published in a local magazine (Scope), I wish I still had the photo...

NWA-Efilrofzaggin (RIP Eazy E)

NWA smashed the pop charts and had parents in fear over their second album Efilrofzaggin
The album ended up being pulled off record stores shelves in the UK, because of it's blatant misogyny and Woman-bashing and glorified gangster stance...and speaking of being pulled off record stores shelves, this was the infamous year that changed sampling forever! Biz Markie sampled a Gilbert O Sullivan song for his "Alone Again" track off his third album I Need A Haircut and lost a court case over it ,Cold Chillin records paid out a substantial sum, here is a link to read about the case.

Good selection, most selections tend to overlook the gangstastuff like DJ Quik, CMW, Mr Scarface etc and focus on NY stuff
Thanks ks and fritz, your comments are mad appreciated.
Dope, dope...
Do you think you can post Hijack's horns of Jerhico? I was a huge Rhyme Syndicate fan back in the day and could never find that album here in Canada.
Thanks brother.
Mark
Thanks Jaz. Your "Back To.." series is the shit! It really takes me back to all the joints that are today underappreciated.
